Gmail stops alerting

I notice my gmail stops alerting me when I receive new emails on my Xoom.

It was working great the first few days, now I have to go in and refresh it manually.

This also was a problem with my motorola Droid, does anyone have a solution?

Push your App Tray button and find "Settings" Then go to Applications > Manage Applications > All tab > Scroll and tap "Gmail" > Clear Data.

For the Droid, you can push your menu button and go to settings that way, but the Xoom has no menu button, so you have to go through the App Tray.
