Gmail support questions

Hi everybody, my friend is having some huge issues with Gmail. She couldn't get into one of her accounts, so she called 1888 361 3731 (supposedly she Google it and that's the Gmail support number it gave her. The first time she called the guy said she had won a $2,500 jackpot, and she was gullible enough to give him info. Second time she called the agent said the account her account had been hacked from Mexico. She had changed her phone number, and the code goes to her old number. Now the agent said her 4g has been hacked. In order for her to remove her old number, and block the hijackers she'd have to purchase some antihijacking software that's 89.99 a month or 149.99 lifetime. My question and concern is, is this legit?. I don't trust this at all. It sounds like a scam to me I don't know. Any ideas?. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you, Anthony.

Don't let her give any personal information over the phone.Change to another Google account and have her delete the one that is hacked. And change your carriers email login and call them too.

Sounds like a definite scam to me. What info did she give them?

That's the problem I wasn't around when it happened. She gave them her bank account #, I even think she said the last 4 of her social. I had her call chase bank right away just in case. I don't know what will happen next now.

I see that 888 number listed as Gmail, MSN, Hotmail, Twitter, and even Facebook support on different sites. I think it's safe to say that all those companies don't use the same support reps. ;)

And this isn't really an Android issue at this point. Without knowing exactly what information your friend gave to the scammers, we can't even begin to speculate at what steps she needs to take. Starting with her bank is definitely a good first step - they may even be able to give her some better guidance on what other steps she may need to take.
