I have a VZ Galaxy Nexus running ICS. All of a sudden, it seems to be going crazy in syncing GMail, reporting that I have hundreds or thousands of new emails at a time as notifications (I have 83K old emails in my inbox). I can tell based upon the heat from the phone and battery usage that GMail is consuming tons of CPU. Any idea what might be causing this and how it might be fixed? Is there a way to mark all of my messages so GMail doesn't think they are new?
