Help GMail syncing/Corruption problem

For some reason the GMail app is "hung" for lack of a better descriptor.

First thing this AM, noticed it wasn't responding and had an old version of my IMAP GMail on screen while the 'thinking wheel' was spinning in the top right corner. It just wouldn't stop or finish refreshing after minutes of activity.

I've manually stopped the app, cleared all apps from RAM and even rebooted - everything else works, but GMail isn't responding. Can read what's there, can send new, but it won't refresh the mailbox.

Thinking the database is somehow corrupt, any thoughts on how to refresh this and get GMail working again?

Posted too soon... while writing the above, thought of one more thing to do. Settings / Applications / GMail / Clear Data

Then the system locked up, power cycle and then 1st entry into GMail got the message "syncing mail, it will appear shortly" - and a few seconds later, everything was there.

Hope this helps someone in the future.
