gmail unread counter

is there a way to get a unread counter for the gmail icon like there is for the sms icon?
like the little number in the top right corner of the icon?

or am i forgetting to do something?

For the stock Gmail app on the S2, you can download "Gmail Unread Count 2.0," I am using it, and it works great. I don't know why some of the icons do not have notification unread counter on them like Blackberries and iPhones do. But the Gmail Unread Count 2.0 is what you want.

K9 mails doesn't have a counter, and I find it sluggishly slow, it doesn't have conversation view either. I guess I am one of the few that really likes the stock Samsung Gmail app.
