GMail update (2.3.5)

I just wondered if anyone had updated to the latest version of Gmail yet? I noticed the update last week in the Market, but so far all the comments about the changes have been quite negative.

I know the "comments" section of the Market should be taken with a pinch of salt, but I thought I'd see if any of the people on here had noticed the missing notifications, instability etc. that have been reported in the market?

Thanks in advance for your

Seems OK, not a lot different tbh. Has more options for Priority Inbox now

I have a Nexus S with GMail 2.3.5 and it does indeed have options for "Priority Inbox", but, i also have here a HTC Desire and a Galaxy S both running Android 2.3.3 and GMail 2.3.5 but none of these two phones have options for "Priority Inbox", all online google accounts are setup the exactly the same, strange.

I seem to have lost the number of unread mail notifications on my phone. Phone no longer showing number of unread messages. Not sure if this is a result of the update or just happened about the same time.

I read somewhere it was because of the update. Apparently Gmail has done something that stops other apps showing the unread mail as well.

Updated because my Gmai, contacts and calendar were not syncing.

I'm traveling so no active SIM card but good Wifil

After updating, sync seems to work.

Don'y yet know aboutt the other issues.

None of the unread apps work with Gmail anymore due to new API settings etc....lots of people crying on the market bout it lol

I'm very grateful for all your replies. I use the native Gmail application so the number of unread emails issue doesn't bother me, as long as I still get notifications of new emails.

I think I will update it anyway, if only to scratch the itch of my nuisance OCD which goes mad whenever I look at my apps screen and see the red "Update" waiting for me to update and have everything nice and black.

Thanks again.

I do believe the update runs a tad faster but otherwise I don't notice anything/or use any 'new' features etc.

like I said, the API thing will hopefully be sorted out soon.....but its funny watching people REALLY getting upset on android market due to something out of the app developers hands lol...Unread SMS Count, ADW Notification, Go Notification for example are all working on some kind of work around or fix for it..

As a general rule, I don't tend to update if at least one of the top three comments on the market are all negative. At the moment two out of three are. I'll leave it I think - works fine as it is for me.
