Are you sure you're downloading Go SMS and not just one of its many themes?
Fwiw, it's meant to be terribly bloated and filled with ads, have you thought about using another app?

I remember there being a serious security problem with Go Keyboard some years ago, and have avoided Go products since.
I believe with any GO apps you'll have lock-screen ads and other intrusive nasties, that's in addition to your data being phoned home to servers in Beijing. And if you search AF for "GO SMS" and "GO Keyboard" there's quite a few threads howling about the ads.
OK, when you say "you don't get the icon on your wall", do you mean that it doesn't appear on your desktop when you install it? Have you checked your desktop/launcher settings? There's normally a setting to control whether an icon is added automatically (I personally set it not to add them automatically). You can either change that, or add it manually, usually by a long press (press and hold) on an empty spot on the desktop, which will then give you options for adding apps or widgets (can't be more precise as it depends on what launcher app, or what phone if you are using the launcher that came with it. If you don't know, the "launcher" is the name of the app that produces your home screens and the app drawer).
Personally I use either Chomp or Textra for my messaging. But from what you say my guess is that you'll find the same no matter what app you use unless you add it yourself or locate and change that setting.
