Going from MAXX to TURBO tomorrow!

Good move. Faster. Better camera. No Verizon logo.

Did you get the 64GB version.

... Thom
Yes I did! That was the only option for the "Employee Edition Bundle" - which I am not sure why was available to me, but it was a 64GB for less $ than the standard 32GB, and much less than the standard 64GB (which I was planning to get) - so I jumped on it! :D

I was just researching that myself :)
http://www.phonedog.com/2014/11/03/...-edition-quietly-appears-on-verizon-s-website

"The Motorola DROID Turbo Employee Edition can now be seen on Verizon’s official store. The device has the same specs as the regular DROID Turbo, but it looks like the Employee Edition has a different Kevlar texture on its backside. It’s also got the words “Limited Edition” tattooed beneath the DROID brand on its rear as well as a serial number printed around its camera ring."

and I found some other threads about it too

I believe that you first need to add the (free) feature "HD Voice" to your account, either by calling Verizon or using the features page of My Verizon online. After restarting the phone, this will enable switching to Advanced Calling on the phone.

There is a FAQ here: http://www.verizonwireless.com/support/advanced-calling-faqs/ and look at "How can I get Advanced Calling 1.0?".

Just note that there are some disadvantages:

- as usual, calls placed in a 3G area cannot get voice/data. They never could anyway on any but a couple of phones that hardly sold at all

- calls placed in an LTE area while you are driving will drop if you leave an LTE area rather than hand off to CDMA, as they do without Advanced Calling.

But, all this is in the FAQ.

It can be enabled by following Thom's directions. It will inform you if any of your contacts have the feature enabled in their phones. As stated before, both parties have to have the capability. After seeing that none of my contacts had the capability and considering the dropped call issue I turned the feature off.

There is an area of possible confusion. I just checked my Maxx and my Turbo.

There is a Settings | Advanced Calling entry in the Turbo. There is not one in the Maxx. All I had to do with the
Turbo was to follow the instructions when selecting that entry and it made all the notifications.

The Turbo solution is IMNHO very sell done.

I was noticeably underwhelmed by the turbo coming from the maxx.... Don't get me wrong, it's a better phone, but no where near the jump from the RAZR HD to the maxx. Idunno maybe I don't do enough anymore to need a quad core and take advantage of the massive pixel gain. Like I said... It's an awesome phone though
