Going Global with my App

Hi, Every body.

I have spent the last couple of weeks making sure the apps that I built can be easily translated and at support for locale. THe problem that I am running into is trusting the default Google translate. Translators often don't comp rend tense, or common usage.

How have other people dealt with this issue?

Thank you for your help.

I know of one example (JustPictures) where the dev gets help from various users to translate the default English into their native tongue (I do the Dutch part). He uses a shared Google docs spreadsheet for that.

From what I've gathered, a lot of the developers with translation for their apps use people for it. In their description, they would thank these people for helping them translate to ______.

Great, I will prepare for that. I love Google spreadsheets. On the global front, How does an app developer select a possible language? Where would I find any type of search trends by location?
