Very True. And that way of thinking applies to smart phones as well. Because... isn't a phone nowadays just a scaled down, portable computer? And as soon as the next model comes out your automatically outdated. It's a huge mind game that drives the industry. Kinda funny to think about actually.
A friend of mine still owns an early model Gateway
with a 13" crt monitor, like 512mb ram, and somehow manages to churn out some awesome music with it! Dunno how he does it but it's possible! Lol
My friend produces amazing dubstep on a P2 with like 64mb becuase its all he has. its insane.
but phones are limited by size, its always going to be a certain form factor and it evolved quick but its not going to get a whole lot bigger or badder from where it is now.
1+GHz 4+" screen touch phones are the standard, and theres no practical application to having more power (dual core, quad core) other than to just have it. on a PC that power is actually put to use with creative apps that can harness it. (video editors, photoshop, CAD tools, rendering, all that stuff) none of those are things would would be comfortable or easy to do on a <5" inch touchscreen device.
if the phone gives you a tactile joy in using it (smooth scrolling, animations, no lag, that kind of stuff) that matters a lot more than its insides. proof of why the iPhone is doing so great amidst the android competition.
its in that respect where putting the money towards a phone that gives that experience is better becuase youll use it so often.
i waited on buying the triumph until good roms, totally worth it. even if nothing comes of ICS I'll be happy miui runs so well and smooth.
I ditched my Galaxy S Vibrant becuase samsung locked it down so much there were no good roms. the cm7 port had problems and they even discontinued it. I sold the phone and went to VM with the OV.
wow I think i went way off track. sorry, wont derail thread anymore
