i'm tired of the bionic's quirks and i've gotten to the point either i get a different brand. or i go back to sprint. every phone i've evern tried with verizon has been quirky. so i stick with sprint. this is the first time i've stuck it out and lasted 12 months. but i've reached my boiling point.

my question is this. i see the new plans now are charging 40 per month access fee now. on top of the pricing plan they have offered now.

basically, from what i can tell. is your gonna pay the mobile hotspot fee now no matter what.

am i wrong. or right????

is there a way around it???? or are the good ole days of the root no good anymore for that capability and other apps that require root.

You are wrong and right. You will be paying a data fee. Which includes hotspot. The $40 access fee is just for talk and text. Then you pay at least $50 (which gets you 1GB of data) for the data. That data can be used on your phone or as a hotspot. It doesn't matter.

I think the carriers finally got smart. I imagine very few people who use hotspot were paying the hotspot fee, so they just rolled it into the plan cost, that way once you are on shared everything, Verizon doesn't have to worry about tethering against ToS anymore.
