Good App for backing up SMS

Hello everyone, i have a bunch of text messages i would like to save so im looking for a way to locally back up text messages into something like a .doc file on a hard drive.

I have a Motorola Droid X (first gen)

Is there a way to do this via usb connection or do i need an app of some sort?
 
You can try it .... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zillce.android.txtarchive2&hl=en It allows you to pick and choose which texts you want to save and then saves them on your card in a word format. You can either use the program to view the saved texts (sorted by contact) or you can email it to your computer and view in Microsoft word (or any word program). After they are saved in your archive, you can delete them from your text messenger.
