good tip calculator recommendation

Hahahaha...glad someone got to this. People who don't know how to tip amaze me. Oh, and 15% is what you give someone who gives you shitty service. 20% is the standard, which is why you do the above (plus, it's just easier math).

My daughter was a waitress, worked her ass off. I always tip 20%!

Restaurants don't pay waiters and waitresses full minimum wage. They're expected to make up the difference in their tips.

When my mom waitressed, she got paid about $2 an hour by the restaurant.

I'm sure waiters and waitresses get more than $2 and hour now, but still not up to minimum wage per hour. And most of them work hard.

I rarely tip higher than 20% (except for rounding, I like my check to end up in whole dollars) -- but I'll tip less if I hear myself complaining about service under my breath...or if the waitress walks by table 4x without checking in. I get b*tchy if they bring me my check faster than they catered to my refills. I deduct starting from 20% rather than go up from 10%.

If what I ordered is $15. I want to easily calculate the tax and tip on that.
my meal = $15
%8.5 tax = $1.28
%15 tip = $2.44
total = $18.72

Why is it so hard to find a good free tip calculator that does this?

I am not sure if you've solved your problem already, but I have been using this simple yet powerful tip calculator called Intelli-Tipper. It does exactly what you want, and plus more. The Android market link to this calculator is: Intelli-Tipper Tip Calculator for Android Phones!

Hope this helps. :)

Hi All,
I bumped into a new one few days ago. It is really nice and lets you calculate the tip percentage according to the level of service you got. No more hesitations :) Check it out here Ultimate Tip Calculator

Bon Apetite!

I came across this post while looking for a decent tip calculator. I've been using Tip Calc for a few days now. It's pretty good. Has a clean interface and it's easy to use. A lot of the tip calculators i found tried to do too much. All i wanted was something simple that did what i wanted quickly. Check it out >> Tip Calc

Posted in another thread:

In case someone is still looking, I just released a tip calculator called Tip Machine (my first app!!):

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=tip.machine

You can count on it to do everything you need it to plus a lot more, and of course, if a feature is missing, just let me know!

Good luck, there are lots of other great tip calculators out there too if mine doesn't suit you. Lots of good ones mentioned in this thread too.
