Goodbye Spirit 4G

My daughter dropped my spirit right on the corner and shattered the whole screen. It's not only barely readable, but I kept cutting my finger on the edges.. I went ahead and bought the LGMS769 L9. The Spirit was better all the way around besides a couple of things. Now what I do like better about the L9 is I was able to unlock my bootloader. Rooting and unlocking this phone was no walk in the park. I was told from the metro store that this is the first GSM phone they introduced. All I know is, I do have much much better signal now. Be aware that the plans change when you go to the GSM. Say goodbye to unlimited 4G hotspot. Just thought I'd let you all know.

They don't offer the hotspot with the unlimited 4G anymore with the GSM phones since T-Mobile bought out MetroPCS. They offer 2 shoddy plans with minimal data. As far as a hotspot bypass, I haven't seen anything that works..

Does it work when you change your browsers user agent?
 
I may be saying goodbye to the spirit as well, metro dropped the blue s3 and my girl is gonna pick it up and gimme her white one here in a month or so..

What do you mean by cheap? Like stability/design/price? 1st it's a no brain-er that the S3 is (in slightly small comparisons) well lets just say a better device than the spirit. And did I mention it was gonna be "given" to me. Nothing beats free my good dude, that's unless she gave it to me then followed it with sweet sweet love making. Who wouldn't upgrade to the S3 from the spirit if the S3 was FREE! Did I mention free? I dunno though if I wanna try and sell the spirit or hold onto it for a backup or whatev. Another thing while we're all waiting on cm10/11 (or whatev) to get JB, the S3 already has JB with stock not too mention a fully working cm nightly build and like at least 20+ Roms to choose from. No offense to GT, PG, Bliss, Shabby or many others devs/themers that I'm sure I'm missing, I appreciate everything you all have done for this device, you've made my experience with the spirit a ton load more enjoyable and the community here has been nothing but a pleasure to be around. But all in all s3 = better device, tons more development. And did I mention it's gonna be free :D
 
Damn. All I got for free was a iPhone 4 Verizon cdma phone. LoL. But hey it was free. Something to mess around with. Works good as a glorified iPod touch.

the build is cheeply made. I disagree, the only thing it has over the spirit is the screen. In my opinion it's over hyped like the Iphone

That's seems pretty much like it has a lot over the spirit, not just screen size homie. My girl gets close to 16hrs of normal-steady use, where on my spirit i only get 8/9 with steady use. Look if you're gonna miss me its okay really I know we have history, but facts are facts I'm leaving you for someone better :p
 
You guys are so ego sensitive. LOL! I can't wait for the new LG G2 to come out! That phone is bad. Makes the HTC One look like child's play. 1080p display, 2.26 GHz Quad core. Snappiest phone on the market for sure. And I'm sure that T-mobile is going to carrier it, so it should work on metro for sure.:D

  • MHL for HDMI

Having both phones, I can say for sure that the S3 is by far the better of the two. The Spirit is a nice low priced alternative though and you can't go wrong with one.
 
Oh I'm in no way trying to knock the spirit, I absolutely love it! And for the price (well for metro's prices that is, sadly lol) it is a damn good phone, But as mentioned before and again above the S3 is just plain and simple a better device hands down in comparison to the spirit. Now I wouldn't go dropping the what is it now 399.99 for one, but like said many times over, free is free is free, and that's fine by me.
 
I feel bad that everyone is leaving the Spirit because it feels like I started it :( I switched to tmobes and got me a HTC One. My good and faithful Spirit is going to my mom, so I'll still be stalking this forum and make sure she stays hooked up with the latest and greatest from you guys :D
 
I did some hellacious overtime last two weeks... and I want to see what all that lost sleep got me...so I'm splurging & getting the top of the line phone available. Wife gets my LG Spirit 4g, Daughter goes from Samsung Admire (1x) to ZTE Avid 4G -wife's old phone. Son just bought the Galaxy S3...for the roms and dev community -also coming up from the Samsung Admire.

I've enjoyed my LG Spirit 4G and I too will keep coming back here for updated roms for my wife's -now- Spirit.
But I'm going all out- this time...like I did in 2010 when I bought the first real superphone HTC Evo 4G.... for myself and my wife and kids...

I've looked at the hardware (even the watered down USA version) and I slaver quietly at the new Galaxy S4 I'll pick up this weekend. It does everything and is the creme de la creme of smartphones....
I don't care for the all out insane full price $620 including tax and number changeover... but I deserve it.
I never knew LG made such quality as the LG Spirit...and even though I kept my Spirit encased (and it was saved three times by that ugly squarish case...)...I loved taking it out of the case... I really think the slimness and the design was elegant and pleasing to my eye.

The Galaxy S4 is not as pretty but its a features and hardware beast... might not ever even root it... But This is my last post...even though I'll be back to check on roms for the Mrs.
May your next phone be Galaxy class or the new LG G2...take care gang.

i have the lgms769, how did you unlock the bootloader?
 
I'm happy with my LG Spirit.
Especially after the $70.00 rebate, so the phone cost me $169.00 from wirefly.
I also have the $30.00 per month promotion plan from last year which gives me unlimited calls and texts, but just 250MB of Data.
But since I'm around WiFi nearly 24/7, I barely use Data anyways.

I'll be hanging on to this phone for a while.
I also have a good, sturdy case for it in case I drop it.
4.5" screen is almost too big to fit in your jeans front pocket and is uncomfortable when sitting.

My old eyes would like a bigger device, but I don't want to have to carry a purse for all my shit. (Phone, earbuds, condoms, tactical folding knife, keys, wallet, chapstick, breath mints, sunglasses, reading glasses, etc...)
