I had a Google 7 Pad made by Acer. I found it to be uncomfortable to hold. I gave it to my Grandson. He has a problem with it. When he switches it on it will get past the lock screen. He says that he has no pin code / pattern set up, just the swipe action.when he swipes there is no action in other words he cant get past the unlock screen. I have a feeling that there is a combination of buttons which will allow him to get past the unlock screen but I don't know if that is true. If he can get past the unlock screen he will do a factory reset.
