Google assistant voice has stopped working

My Google assistant voice has become muted. Also the text messaging notifications are also muted. I checked into The Voice output and it's turned on for the assistant. What could have happened?

Interestingly, all I did was hook the phone to my car bring up Google Maps and travel a little bit, and when I disconnected the phone all the settings were back to normal.
