Google calendar no text in calendar view

Galaxy note 2. Downloaded google calendar and when synced will show text ok in day view but in month view no text. The "vertical" bullets that precede the text are there but no text. Tried reinstalling / deleting cache but nothing. This is google calendar not s calendar.

Any help would be appreciated

That's the way it works, not really helpful IMO.
There are a ton of calendars and calendar widgets in Play, I use CalenGoo and Simple Calendar Widget (CalenGoo is paid). Look at Jorte and Business Calendar as well, both are very nice.
They all sync with your Google calendar, they are just nicer.
