Google Calendar permanent popups/notifications

My wife transferred from apple to android, and now one sizeable complaint.
She relies on permanent notifications from google calendar, as in on-screen forever until dismissed.
Can it be done?

you can set an alarm in addition to a notification in google calendar:

Yes, an alert notification will remain until dismissed.

If you want something harder to ignore I use Snooze It, which is a separate app that provides full screen/repeating alarms with flexible snoozing. If you leave your calendar app's notifications on you can have both.
