google calendar sync problem

But still, no answers. How do we get these people to do something about this? With the various Android phones out there, even only those on Verizon, how many different phones are having this problem? Do we have any way of saying definitively, "Yes, it's the phones" or "Yes, it's Google" or "Actually, it's both"?

I'd like to jump in on this, because I haven't seen or read anything that really seems to address the root of the problem, especially if, as HTC/Verizon would like us to believe, the problem is with Google's servers. Here's what happened to me: Using the computer, I attached a birthday to my brother's entry in my contact list. The birthday shows up in his contact entry on my phone. His birthday shows up in my Google calendar on line. It does not show up in the calendar on the phone; and both the phone calendar and the phone contacts are using Google, not the phone. Exceedingly frustrating that such a simple operation could be so royally fubarred.

1. enter the birthday on the PC Google.com Contacts field side - not the phone side. i find that entering on phone side doesn't work.
2. make sure that you have subscribed to "Contact's Birthdays" on the Google.com side.
3. make sure that the Android Calendar and Jorte Calendar settings include the "Contact's Birthdays". i also add "US Holidays".

I have at least a little good news I just checked and now anything that i enter on my laptop up to 1/20/12 will now sync back to the phone
Before today anything after 12/21/11 would not sync at least it goes out a month nowmaybe someone is actually listening to our complaints or the phone only sync so far out?

I'd love to chime in here, as I'm having a very similar issue. Here's my problem (part of this si posted in another thread, but this is the complete text). BTW - I'm using an HTC Incredible (rooted, but had the problem before I rooted too).
*****

In Google Calendars (via the web on my PC), I've created multiple Calendars using the same gmail account. This is what I have done:

- Calendar A: private calandar, not shared, default reminder at 10 minutes
- Calendar B: Work Calendar, shared with wife, default reminder is 24 hours
- Calendar C: Kids Sport calendar, shared with wife and son, default reminder is set to 2 hours.
- Calendar D: National Holiday schedule (from Google). No reminders, not shared, but we all have it loaded.

In theory, this all works really well. All 4 calendars get their own defaults, I see my private calendar, my wife or I can change the sports cal, etc... and each calendar has it's own color (red, blue, yellow, and green).

BUT - my problem is, not all 4 calendars sync to our phones. This is really odd, because in the phone app, all, all 4 calendars are selected to be shown, it's been synced with Google numerous times (via Settings > Sync), yet not all events show. Some will show, but they are way in the future (like 12 months), yet those that are supposed to happen tomorrow, don't. This is odd..

I've used the stock calendar app, Jorte, and Touch Calendar, and they all seem to do this. My widget is Smooth Calendar (which can also select calendars) also has them all selected and only show's what's in the app (stock, Jorte, Touch). Meanwhile, all info shows very nicely online if I go to a web-browser and log into my gmail account.

I haven't tried clearing the calendar data (cache), which sounds like a really good idea. I'm going to give this a try and i'll report back.

OK - reporting back... with good news! Here's how I resolved my issue in the last 10 minutes (took no longer than that):

1 - made a backup of settings (via Titanium, sorry non-root users)

2 - made sure all my calendar info was really on GMail via my PC browser (it was. Whew!)

3 - went into Settings > Applications > Manage Apps > All apps and "cleared the data" for the following:

- Calendar
- Calendar Storage
- Calendar Sync Adapter
- Calendar Widget (even though I didn't use this widget)
- Days Until Widget (I used to use this, but don't anymore)
- Jorte
- Smooth Calendar (I DO use this)
- Touch Calendar

4 - Then I removed the widget for Smooth Calendar, as there was an updated within the last few days.. Just to be sure.. Then re-installed the widget on my homescreen

5 - NOW.. everything was blank as blank can be. Went into my app drawer, opened Calendar > options > Calendars. The only calendar showing was my main GMAIL @gmail.com and PC Sync. Calendars B, C, and D were not showing up. Then I clicked menu > ADD Calendar. On the pop-up window, all of my calendars were there. A + B + C + D + PC Sync. Just like it should be. Whew! Click OK and then wait 5 seconds.

Now all my data from gmail calendar is loaded into my app calendar. Including the colors for each individual calendar and all. Didn't even have to go to Settings > Sync > etc... It was all there!

Also, as the bonus - in my Smooth Calendar widget, as soon as I clicked 'refresh' all my info was now in my widget again. Whoo-hoo!

Now my only conundrum is that I have to manually reset all my options, but that's not a biggie at all.

Hope this info can help someone else!

THANKS A BUNCH

I've just noticed the same issue, however it's only effecting my US Holidays calendar. Items entered in the other 8 or so calendars in google sync fine (did test entries from both phone and internet), however all holidays after 12/31/10 don't show on my phone. Tried unlinking and linking the calendar and clearing the data but no luck so far. Running Evo 4G unrooted, android 2.2

Anyone else's Google Calendar Sync get stuck on "Loading Google Calendar Events" on their PC? It happens to me about once a week... A simple restart of the PC will get it working again, but it's a bit of a pain.

...Although I should probably be restarting my PC once a week anyway, lol.

KM2002, thanks for starting this thread. I'm disappointed to see that I don't see any solution. I've had my Droid X (Verizon, V2.3.3) for almost 1 year with no issues regarding birthdays until now. Last week I added a birthday to an existing contact (first entered on Droid contacts, then on Google contacts). Both gave same result: the birthday shows up on contacts (both Droid handheld and Google Contacts desktop), but only appears on Google Calendar desktop (not on Droid calendar!). All my data is on Google's cloud with the same user name, so there are not any issues with syncing incorrectly.

Now I've 'upgraded' to system version 4.5.596.MB810 and the problem has intensified. Existing birthdays show on Droid handheld contacts, but there is no field to enter or edit them.

Help, please! My posts on Google have gone unanswered.

I've tried clearing all data-nothing happens. I've even did a factory reset, still same problem. Can sync down from google, but can't sync up from phone.

Having finally figured out how to synch Outlook to Google Calendar using the Goolge Salendar Sync, Google calendar will oto synch existing calendar entries ie somethign already on Outlook that was oushed to Google by using the Google calendar Synch app) to my LG Revolution. It will synch to my phone a new entry to Outlook that migrates to Google Calendar, just not the entries that were already there. Netiher Verizon nor LG seems to knwo how to fix this problem.

Was there ever a solution to this problem? (The original one).

I am a new user with the exact same problem (different date-11/15/12). I am using a Samsung Galaxy S 4G.

I could use help!

Thanks in advance.

Since I last posted, my calendar has jumped forward one month. Around December 15 it started syncing through December 15 of next year. Still only syncs that far but I imagine that around January 15 it will sync through January 15 of next year. Seems like it's because of the amount of data that I have in my calendar.

Thought everything was syncing properly on my Droid incredible but just notice that anything that I enter in Google calendar on my desktop after 12/21/11 is not syncing to my phone but sync ok from phone to calendar on desktop seems to be an issue how do I fix this or is it just a Google problem that they will have to fix

I installed the latest htc update yesterday and since that date my previoulsy flawlessly working android calendar that synced perfectly with google calendar, will only now sync one way. It works from the PC to the phone but not the other way. However, an event that has come from the PC to the phone CAN be deleted on the phone and it then deletes on the PC OK. So why cannot I get an event on the phone to show on the PC calendar??? This is driving me nuts! Someone must have an idea? I have tried clearing caches, unsyncing and resyncing etc

I'm using the Jorte Calendar and Tasks on my Motorola RAZR and for the calendar syncing seems to only work in one direction...

It worked well until about 3 to 4 weeks ago.

Now, when I update a calendar item online using Google Calendar, it syncs to the Jorte calendar on my phone

When I update a calendar item on the phone using Jorte, it does NOT sync to my Google calendar online (I've even tried the export function and clearing the data from Calendar Storage).

My tasks won't sync at all between the two in either direction.

I have a problem syncing too. It didn't sync either way. After I followed the steps to delete all data in the calendar, the desktop goes into my phone, but phone data willl not go into desktop.

There is no place in the phone says you can sync the calendar.
