Google Contacts Name syncing issue

Hello,

My problem: the name of the contacts are not updating.

Scenario 1: in Gmail (on the PC) I go to my Contacts, edit a contact (change the name and the phone number) and save it; after syncing my Android, that particular contact has the new phone number but the the old name (so the name isn't changing/updating); the Android Gmail app also shows the old name.

Scenario 2: in Android Contacts, I modify the name of a contact; in Gmail Contacts (on the PC) the name of that contact is updated.

I have a Galaxy Nexus.

Any help will be appreciated.

I don't know what exactly might help you fix this but I have a feeling that it's got something to do with the first name or last name...

What have you set to be displayed in Android contact? And How is it set in google contacts?

Have you tried changing the first name of a given contact in google contacts and then set android to display the contacts sorted by first name and see if they sync?

Android and Google Contacts both are set to first name.

I've tried modifying both first and last name, and also changing from First Name to Last Name. Unfortunately it didn't produce any results.

Anyways, the sorting option (by First or by Last Name) shouldn't have any effect on the syncing ... it's just a display option.
