Well here goes I am not one to bitch and am a fan of google. I was on the bandwagon to go with a pixel xl and fi as soon i was was able to get a out of stock phone. got the 32G because the 128g was on a long backorder. I sucked it up. Like the phone and had problems that others have had freezing for up 15 minutes. Replaced 2 phones because of this problem. One put the wrong address on my package so i was out a phone for a week. that phone lasted for about 1 month and issues again got replaced called and 2 days later had a refurbished phone. As i booted up the replacement phone i packed up the old one and mailed it the same day i received
Here is my latest event my phone will not charge google support well send you out another one .this was Friday 4/7/17. approve email make sure address is correct we will get it out to you will have by Tue . I understand this as it was the weekend after 4 pm . no big deal.
My phone is under warranty and i have the protection plan also. I filled the paper work online and my fault i did pay attention just did the process i did b4 . they want to charge me $850 for a new phone until they receive the old broken google pixel phone that is theirs and still under warranty not to mention the protection plan.I called monday follow up based on my past history with google and so nimrod assured me i would have a phone today. I was busy and did not think anything of it. I called again today and they told me i had to purchase a phone until they received my broken replacement. Needless to say i am pretty pissed. . don't make me suffer because others do not return their broken phones. did not cause any problems to make the phone not work. get it together google.

Are you sure they are charging you for the new phone? Or are they just putting a hold on your credit card for that amount?
I had my Nexus 6 replaced, and they just put a hold on the card, which dropped off as soon as I sent them the old phone back.

Warranty or not, they need to make sure they reduce their risk (with customers who don't send the old one back) - else, what is stopping somebody from creating a new google account, buying a phone, and after a month, asking for a replacement under warranty, and not sending the old one back?

wow...I'm thinking about getting a pixel xl too. I hadn;t heard about the freezing issue before. is it a common/known issue? are most people waiting for the pixel 2?

I have the Pixel XL 128 GB. Ordered it on launch day. I have had zero problems with this phone. My carrier is Project Fi, and that has worked out well for me too.
