Google Hangouts Question

[FustorThePeople]

I'm planning on upgrading from the Droid Razr M to the HTC One (M8) soon and would like to know if Google Hangouts transfers SMS to new phones. I don't currently use Hangouts as my default texting app, but if it allows me to transfer messages without using an SMS Backup app I definitely will. Any help would be appreciated!

No, it won't. You can try some of the SMS backup and restore apps. But not all work when restoring to a Kit Kat phone. I haven't had the need to do so, so I am unsure which work. I would start out with MyBackup Pro.

SMS backup and restore worked for me when I went from a 4.3 ROM to a Kit Kat ROM.

Fair enough it was the same phone, but it should work if you didn't copy the xml file to your new handset.
