Root Google Hangouts safe to remove?

I don't know if anyone has done it but would it be safe to remove GH? i really don't use it at all but was wondering if it'd break anything like Gmail or Google play although i've noticed it can be disabled on settings>apps, just trying to get rid of stuff don't need if anything it can be downloaded back again, would appreciate some feedback thanks.

Why not disable it? Then if it breaks anything you can re-enable it.

I remove it from my phone with no problems. Gmail and Play are fine, but I do uninstall several other Google apps so cannot say for certain it wouldn't affect these. However I doubt it will be a problem.
