Google IM or Android IM?

Hello there! I am new to Android ..made the awesome switch from bb 9700 to gs2! ... Loving the switch! Best decision ever made....

So I have a question. I am lookng for a IM for Droid users ... Like how bb has BBM (blackberry instant message) where bb users interact with each other..... Does Android have a similar IM? I would love to meet and interact with other Droid fans! thanks guys! "

There is Google talk which comes preloaded on most android devices. Google+ also offers a messenger that has a more in depth chat style allowing you to see when someone is typing, if they got your message or if the message is unread, I think the latter is more in line with what your looking for.

Whatsapp, or any of the other similar apps (there are lots). Your friends must have them installed on their devices too, obviously.

As well as whatsapp, there's liveprofile and pingchat too. With these you can IM with iphone and bb users too.

There's also Viber. Similar to whatsapp, but you can make calls with it too.

i find gtalk to be the best one to use if you want android exclusive users...although anyone with a gmail account can use it so its technically not "android exclusive"

Personally I think gtalk is wack in comparison to bbm and imessage... when are they going to update the thing so that you can send/receive pics at least?

i agree that its not as advanced as BBM but it works pretty well. They really do need to update it.
