Google introduces BIG news : new apps

Works fine for me, but I think the only time I'd use it was when I was driving and now that Vlingo is free I guess it's 6 one way, half a dozen the other. However, my BlueAnt isn't playing well when I try to use it via bluetooth.

Instead of Chrome to Phone I've been using LinkPush for awhile now and works awesome.

when i tell it to listen to "artist" it always starts pandora and not my stored music
i uninstalled pandora and then voice search advised that i have no compatible music player? has anyone got it to work with the standard evo music player?

People were talking about Vlingo, so I had to try it! Absolutely better than the OEM Android one. Picked the most difficult name in my contacts and it picked it up, first try.

Yeah, it only works for streaming players, like Pandora or Last.fm. Weird, I know. Maybe they'll fix this.

Voice actions is working great for me. But I do think it's dumb that you can only stream music and not use something like the 3 player.
A tip, FWIW, enunciate. The voice recognition screwed up a couple of times when I dropped t's and ing's.
Having recently come from iPhone, it's amazing how quickly Android is innovating. Breath of fresh air, and I'm so glad to be here.

Try as I might, Google voice simply does not work for me. Every search returned errant results. And yes, I enunciated and I don't have an accent. But Vlingo? Like buttah.

You're right -- Google voice is more valuable for prompting Vlingo to offer it for free than the actual application. And since it works on most versions of Android, non-froyo users aren't shut out of the action.

Voice actions does not work well for me for sending texts. I tried for 30 minutes to get it to load up a text to send to one of my contacts. Each time it would load up the "send text" box, but it would put the name of the contact in the body of the text, not the "TO" line. Am I doing something wrong? I say "Send text to John Smith" in a normal voice, just like the video, and it loads up the text box but puts "John Smith" in the body of the text. Bah. I was excited about this. I'd like to text while I drive.

Had the same issue until I synced all my contacts into my gmail account. Once I did that it works quite well and puts the name where it belongs. Not sure if this is your issue but thought I'd pass it along.

Vlingo +10!

I'm really awkward by voice dictation stuff... pretty much any singing game NOT called Rock Band 2, I do pretty bad on (Rock Band 2 has really exceptional vocal tracking, vs. the competition, at least) but on the computer... Never had good luck. Even the Google voice search, pretty terrible.

Well, I just ran a quick test at it. I said "Email Jennifer Subject Testing Message Testing 1 2 3"... it asked me who "Jennifer" was (my wife), only one contact, I just had to click her email... and it filled it in. 100% accuracy. I discarded it, and said a bit more. I didn't have a script ready, so I stammered a bit, and that broke its accuracy... but I'd still give it 95% accuracy.

If I had more use for text-to-speech on my phone, this would be worth ten bucks. Being free I'm glad to have it, but if it had cost anything, I would have probably passed. Thank you for bringing it to my attention (well, via this topic).
