Help Google Keep Notes Not Displaying Images

stevefoobar

Lurker
This is a new problem with Google Keep Notes on my Google Pixel 3A XL.

Some images attached to notes suddenly do not display within the Keep Notes app on my phone. There is no technical reason for why some display and others don’t that I can determine. All images, however, display correctly in the browser version of Keep Notes. It appears to have nothing to do with whether the image is a PNG or JPG or the size of the image (I've made them all smaller—it made no difference).

I have tried all the usual trouble-shooting steps to no avail (stopping and restarting the app, clearing the app cache, restarting the phone). I don’t want to uninstall and reinstall the app, since I don’t know if I will lose my Notes and Images.

Trying to get help directly from Google seems to be impossible.

Thanks for any ideas anyone may have.

you can always save your notes on your phone or pc. you can also have notes backed up and sync'd.......so you can then try uninstalling and then re-installing it.

Interesting. Do you happen to know if there is a way to export the notes and images in Keep? I didn't see any such functionality. As for backing up or syncing to other devices, there is no such functionality I can see within the Keep app.

Well, I figured out how to export the Keep data, but I can't find anything about how to import it back into Keep. I think the intent of this export feature is to export Keep data so you can import it into other notes apps. I'll have to keep searching.

Well, I backed up all my data and images from Google Keep just to be safe, even though I could see everything fine in a browser using the cloud version of Keep. I then uninstalled and reinstalled the App on my Google Pixel 3A XL phone with Android 12. Unfortunately, it made no difference. I still had exactly the same problem.

Does anyone know the best place to log a bug with Google Keep?

Thanks.

UPDATE

Even though I rebooted my phone multiple times when the problem first occurred and this didn't help, I discovered that when I rebooted my phone after I completely uninstalled and reinstalled the app, the problem went away!

So at least I now know the following about Google Keep App:
  • If there is a bug, uninstalling and reinstalling works fine and will not cause any data or image loss
  • Rebooting the phone after uninstalling and reinstalling is required (or at least is smart)
Thanks everyone for the help!
