Google keyboard loads when pushing home screen icon

This is driving me nuts! When I push the home screen icon, the Google keyboard pops up. I want it to stop. It makes it harder to get to the phone icon in case I need to call 911. I don't have Google Now installed. I'm running Jelly Bean. Please help. Thank you.

Let's start with what phone you have, what version of the OS are you on (not just JB), whether you are on a custom ROM or stock, rooted or not

I'm sorry.I just seen your reply now. I didn't get an email confirmation. ZTE Concord, Stock non-rooted 4.3 kernel version 3.4.0+. Thank you.

I checked all the settings. There's nothing for that. Sometimes when I push the home button, Google takes over and Google search comes on with the keyboard. It says,"Get Google Now." I don't want Google Now,or ever! lol

I tried long press, soft press, soft touch, light tap. It doesn't matter. I do finally get to the home screen but it sometimes takes a while.

Try going into your keyboard opens from setting menu. Is there any odd setting that are not usually there? Post a screen shit of the "Keyboard" or "Language & Input" options.

Maybe you could delve into the deepest recesses of settings and find an option to increase the duration for long press activation?

Try uninstalling the Google Keyboard and just use the stock one. Does the stock keyboard come up when you press the home button? If not, then try reinstalling the Google Keyboard.

I'm not familiar with your particular model of phone. I know on some phones, there is a search button. Does your phone have search hardware buttons as well as home and back or menu?
