Google Log In does not work.

Having just got a new Samsung Galaxy s2, I was looking forward to exploring the phone. Alas, I have been let down on the first go. I tried to set up my Google Account aand failed. The phone does not recognise the user name or password. Message says your user name and password does not match. But it does as I have tried the log in on my gmail account. I dont know what to do.

Problem with Google is when you have a problem there is no one to help you out. No line to call or even a friendly chat site. Google needs to learn a lot about servicing if it is to move out of the search market or it will lose customers like me!

Is your Google account a Gmail account (You can make Google accounts using other email services)? You need it to be Gmail.

Also, if you have 2-step authentication turned on (though this may require having had an Android phone before) it will do this, you'd need to create an app-specific password to set up the phone.

If you had an Android device before and need to set the one-time password for use with the phone, go to http://google.com/accounts sign in and set the app-specific password on the 2-step verification page.
