Google mail alerts on Samsung Gear S2?

Picked-up my Gear S2 yesterday. I wore a LG Urbane for two weeks and am going to try the S2 now.

I'm able to get SMS and phone notifications on the watch, but notably absent is anything from Google, which means no Hangout or Gmail notifications.

Has anyone figured out how to do this?

First impression--the rotating bezel allows an incredible interface. Locating apps is much easier--though most of them I'll never use. My primary requirements for a watch is getting notifications on my wrist without having to look at my phone--which is especially valuable in the winter while driving and my phone is in its holster on my belt, under a sweater and jacket.

It appears the first step is to use the built-in email app for the phone, and not google mail. My personal account autoconfigured but my work email won't autoconfigure even though it is also a google-hosted account.

There doesn't seem to be any support for Google Hangouts, though I think there might be for Skype.

Sorry this isn't going to answer your question, but I am curious about your watch as I just got a Note 5 switching from iPhone. I am thinking about getting an S2 but have a few questions and since you have one figured I'd ask. First did you get the S2 or S2 classic. Second how do you like it compared to the urbane. Third and last do you find that the battery life on your phone is worse when you have smartwatch connected or better?
Check the notifications for Gmail and Hangouts under the Gear up on your phone and email and hangout notifications will show up. Install Android Wear, even though you dont have an Android Wear watch, and now you can not only recieve, but reply to hangouts on the watch.

in the gear manager select <Notifications> then <Manage notifications> check the apps you want to receive notifications from and tap <DONE>. Make sure the <Limit notifications> is off. Set the other switches as you prefer. Make sure your app (Gmail) is set to send notifications when new mail arrives. that should work, at least it does for me.

The limit notification is tricky at first. If off than those apps you check will go through, if on than the apps you check are blocked.

google won't support tizen software. they only support their own android wear software.

So you won't find google support anytime soon. It's the one thing Samsung does not have going for it. Tizen is starting to look a lot like what Windows phones look like to Android/Apple.

I am starting to wonder why I still use this watch. Doesn't even support Samsung Pay even though it was promised last year. That's all I wanted it for was for Samsung Pay.

Well because I haven't heard or thought about Bodycount for years and now I cant get them out of my head! :thumbsupdroid: bc bc bc bc bc
