Google Maps 4.4

Has anybody got notification about updated version of Google Maps? As i understand Google released version 4.4 today. I have not tried to install it myself yet. I just checked it in my app manager (in settings) and it did not say that there were updates available.

I got the update, it includes Places as a separate app. I've noticed that in AppBrain, my apps don't show an update is available as quickly as the regular Market app.

I updated. Wished I didn't. New features weren't that interesting to me. They changed the info area to a white background with black text instead of the original black background with white text. Not happy about that.

Can't you uninstall the update?

I like how they've got the places grouped, and it integrated nicely into maps, info, phone, nav/directions, etc.

No, why should we go back one version earlier. Why didn't Google add a "tick" option, "Black backround? Y/N?" in the settings.

This is EXTREMELY important for those mobiles using AMOLED or SAMOLED which can be power-draining with white background!

Bring back the options (or better still the ability to "choose" a background colour? Some may like sickly purple, or bloody red, etc).

Write them and ask for it if its really important. They might just listen.

Already did, and others have done so. How about you? The more the people write back to Google, the better chance that they'll listen. They'll probably opt for the middle ground, i.e. tick box for WHITE/BLACK, rather than rescinding back to BLACK or staying with WHITE.

Thanks anyhow.
