Google Maps hogging memory - how do I stop it?

Google Maps keeps restarting itself whenever I stop the process.

My last resort is to reboot the phone but is there a more convenient way to use an app that requires Google Maps but then kills the process after I'm done (let's say the app is not active for 5 minutes or so) automatically?

so i tried clear data then nandroid backup then wipe all tye cache and auch then recover then uninstall a d reinstall

that seemed to stop the battery drain

i dont know which step did the trick but my maps was always at least 50% use of battery life it stopped after i did all that
Yep, same thing here - 50% battery usage. Insane.

So basically I have to uninstall Maps and then reinstall it?

All that after I:

- clear data
- backup
- empty cache
- recover
?

I don't understand half of that stuff yet. LOL. Gotta look into it.

um ya it helped alot. BUT it still goes up to about 25% when i use it a bit then it of course goes back down if i dont.

and idk after doing all that i saw an improvement hopefully that helps u
