Help Google maps storage

Hi all. Does anyone know where google maps stores 'offline areas' when they are downloaded? SD card or phone memory? I am trying to see if they can be accessed from other apps for offline use.

Cheers.

I would expect it to be internal storage, and in a format that's specific to the Maps app.

Easy to tell: save an area and see whether there's a folder on your sdcard. Also look at the data size for Maps before and after saving. If the answers are "no" and "larger" then my guess is right.

Yes i have tried that and not an easy answer. It must have a specific file and path for saving the large in Mb files. See attached screenshot.

Hi,Google map keeps the downloaded maps in internal memory of phone. If you want to see your downloaded maps in every details ,go this way, switch off WiFi and Mobile data services ( all internet connection) then tap on Google map in your home screen, Google map will go automatically to your downloaded areas ,there you can see map ,search rout, navigation etc.
