Root google maps stuck

Newbie
On stock rom, my gps and good maps and google navigation worked like a charm, but im now unrooted and using redux rom, however when i use google maps or navigation, it gets stuck on 'searching for gps' It does seem to work from time to time, but thats only when i leave it to search for a very long time.. Even then its doubtful that it actually works, feels like its by chance that it works.. I have updated to the latest radio as well, so im just wondering what might be wrong? thanks

It could actually be that you have changed the radio, newer isn't always better.
Have you only had this since the new radio?
Which radio were you on before?

Ok, so your original radio was old, are you able to get a GPS fix at all? I'd recommend getting GPS test from the market to check if you are seeing any connection.
My Radio is 5.11.05.27, and I've only had GPS issues when its been rom related, I can't advise you as which radio is best for your carrier, but I know alot of people have the same radio as I have and have no issues. I would start by testing your GPS first and report back, but don't go flashing radios as its nothing as I'm sure your aware, flashing the radio is the number 1 cause of a brick if it goes wrong.

Ok ive got results, yeah my gps does work, and gpstest is able to see that my gps is on, and i seem to be getting connections with the sattelites, so should i attempt to downgrade my radio? and if so, would it be the same procedure as i updated my radio in the first place?

If gpstest is finding a connection with reasonable accuracy (few metres when in the open) then your GPS is actually working with your current ROM & Radio. Which then begs the question of whether there is any other cause? Does it work with Maps after running gpstest?

Also, what sort of case are you using? I ask because my flip case, while much better protection than my case-mate, has just enough metal in the construction that GPS connection becomes very slow and inaccurate if I use it in that case (GPS signals are weak). Sometimes if you change something apparently unrelated like this it can confuse the issue.

But if you can't get it working otherwise then yes, "downgrading" radios is the same procedure - you just use a different file. There seems to be no hard and fast rule for recommending radios. I'm using the most recent, and find it fine, but also found any of the most recent 3 or 4 give similar results. But other people report different results.

I should add that Redux is in my experience pretty good for GPS (as indeed are all AOSP ROMs, and recent Miui - I've not used Sense for almost a year, so cannot comment on those).
