Google Maps: view desktop-created map on Android?

I have version 7.6.1 Google Maps on my Nexus 4 with Android 4.4. On the desktop web Maps, I created a named map with several locations.

Can anyone tell me please how to view that map on my Android Google Maps app? I made two phone calls to Google Support today, and neither of the support persons had any idea, nor had they ever heard before of anyone needing to do such a thing!

It was never a problem with the 6.x app.

As far as I know this is not possible. A workaround is to go to Google Maps on your phone's browser. You can get to your maps there.

Viewing in a browser doesn't allow navigation. The solution is to install Google Maps Engine.

When one is logged into the same app account where the the map was created, it is then viewable and fully-navigable on the Android device.

For some reason Google chose to create a separate app to provide the same functionality that was natively in 6.x.

I wasn't aware of that app. Previously I would use to web version of Google Maps to see the custom maps and select a place I saved. When I clicked on it, it brought me to the Google Maps app and I could then use navigation. Not the best solution, but it got me what I needed.

It looks like I will have to convert all my maps to the Google Map Engine to view them in the app. Thanks for the info.

Edit: I see where I can access the "class maps" in the app.

No, just select the lower-left menu, "Switch Map", then swipe the top menu left to "Classic Maps" and everything created on the desktop web version is selectable and navigable, which is what I needed.
