Google maps won't install

I'm about scream or cry not sure which one

First of all, I have a mytouch slide rooted CM7 phone. Google map would never update so I deleted it using Titanium Backup with the intent to just reinstall it, well that's not working either. I research and research and I saw that I should unmount my SD card and try. It downloads correctly but then it won't install. I get a message that says install failed unknown error -8. Please try again.

I just don't know what to do at this point. I use google Nav so I really need to get this to work bad.

I've run into a few problems updating google maps in the last few months. For me it was always an insufficient phone memory issue. I just temporarily delete a few apps to free up some memory, update the google maps and then reinstall the other maps again. I have an LG shine plus running 2.1.

How much free space have you got on Phone Memory?

Whilst the Maps app is only about 4.4MB, it requires about 20MB of free space to initially install. Therefore you may need to clear some of your Internal (phone) memory first.
