Google Music Beta

if directed to me, i did not mean to imply the main account for the handset. GMusic is tied to one gmail account and you cant currently have more than one account tied to the same GMusic account.. :p that was my meaning.

'ppreciate you keeping me honest on this.. ;)

And no, your main Android account (the Google account you sign in with when you activate the phone) does not have to be the account in which you use Gmusic. I have 2 gmail accounts logged into my phone. A new handle and the secondary handle that I'm trying to phase out of. Both have invites to Gmusic beta, and both can be used from my 3vo. The google accounts just need to be listed in the account section of your phone.

I was sucked into the Amazon Cloud Player when it started, and am content with it for my limited needs. Mainly I want a backup of my music in case some disaster destroyed my home, with a secondary capability to download a few albums if I get an irresistible urge while traveling to hear some obscure artist that I didn't put on a portable device. So I won't be going with Google music, I'm an even bigger Amazon fanboy than Google fanboy.

Agreed that audiogalaxy is a better option right now. Subsonic was the best but my trial ended and it's not enough better than audiogalaxy to be worth 15 bucks

The folder browsing was really nice though, wish google music or ag did that :-(

Limit is 25000 songs

player isn't very good imo because when you have that many songs it takes forever to scroll through them and there's no option to scroll by letter for some reason

Also when you're looking by artist, if you hit the name you have to select an album, and like 70% of my music is "unknown album", and when I click that it it shows EVERYTHING within that album, so it's literally impossible to view only the songs by that artist

Overall it has very few features which is disappointing for google

I used to have the same problem with all my music, i have a library of over 60,000 songs... but i only use about maybe 10,000... all unknown tracks, and messed up names... duplicates... i fixed it with a itunes & windows media player plugin... check this plugin out, like 50 bucks, worth everypenny.

GMail was in Beta for years, so I'm not sure you want to wait that long. Might want to do it according to updates.

True, google has a tendency to keep their products in beta for years. But I really have no urgency to have google music installed on my phone. I have other music services like pandora or jango that I always listen to. Having google music was just a plus for me. Not to mention once spotify comes out, google music will be obsolete imo.

yes it does album artwork. my google music store is nice and tidy now... took me a few lazy weekends to do it but it looks great. the UI on the programme i posted is nice and easy.

yes i do believe this app does all the app you posted does.

It's okay...I am happy I got invited and will use it and hope it gets developed into something great.

My major gripe is that I like using it on my work PC to listen to my library. HOWEVER, I have a couple websites for my print and apparel business'...AND guess what I use for an email client. GOOGLE APPS, which recently integrated into gmail. Which means I have to log out of my personal gmail acct and log into my business accts via gmail, which means the music stops.

Looks like I'll be using Audiogalaxy at work again. I must say I think Gmusic has a better sound quality.

Another HUGE issue is that when playing an album, the ONLY option is to do it alphabetically! (At least I couldn't find a way to do it in real album order after about 30 minutes of trying, please tell me if there is a way)

Certain (if not most) albums were meant to be heard in a specific order! How can I enjoy "The Wall" in alphabetical order lol

I also have many standup albums that obviously have to be heard in order, but no go with google music

If you get a session manager in google chrome, or firefox, you can be logged into more than 1 gmail account at a time, and you'll never have to log out...

Audiogalaxy recently added a feature for higher quality streaming, but it does not tell you what bit rate the higher quailty is. Still there is a noticed improvement when I select the feature.

I have no idea what this means or I would help you. Are you talking about creating playlists?

Equalizer, from the market, is an absolute must have app. It works on Pandora/Slacker, as well. I like having 1 centralized EQ app rather than have each app have it's own EQ. Keeps things consistant.

I like the app, but you have to pay to create a custom EQ setting. Plus each player has it's own sound settings within the app so I've found some of EQ's presets don't give the same sound when loading a different player app.

Yeah subsonic is good but not worth the extra 15 dollars it costs now

@falcony I mean open google music, swipe to "Albums", and open an album. The songs are listed in alphabetical order for you right?

That's not helpful when I want to listen to them in TRUE album order

I had the Firefox session manager a few versions back (of firefox) and it was giving me fits...Maybe it's time to give it another try.

Your problem is probably the tags on your files. That is not a google music issue I've encountered. The tags on your files should identify the track order.

slightly off topic, but maybe not. Wondering if someone can help me out.

Whats the easiest way to have my songs in itunes available to me on my phone, whether I stream from the internet or bring it to my phone..just looking for the simplest.

Audiogalaxy assuming the files are on your computer. I don't use itunes so I forget if it's a cloud or hard files.

Yeah, browsers have come a long way... If firefox gives you crap, I would suggest giving Chrome a shot...
