Google Navigation voice won't change

I have selected a different voice for my navigator through the apps settings however when I use it the voice remains the same infuriating english robo female. If anyone can help with this I'd appreciate it.

I'm running Android 2.3 on a HTC Desire S

Thanks

For some insane reason they decided that Navigation should ignore the speech settings and try to use a voice that matches the keyboard and display language. I guess if you speak one language and read another, you're not allowed to drive...

If you're trying to switch to a different Pico voice, you can fool it by renaming the files in the "svox" folder on the SD card. For example, to turn US English into British English, swap the file names like this:

en-US_lh0_sg.bin <--> en-GB_kh0_sg.bin
en-US_ta.bin <--> en-GB_ta.bin

I'm not sure about other speech libraries.

For some reason the voice is gone on my nav. I can't seem to find if there is a setting to turn it on or off. Any one else have this happen?

You should be setting the default TTS engine in the TTS settings -- not in Google Maps Nav. Where are you finding the setting in Google Maps Nav? I'm not aware of any.

I don't have to do this and I use a British voice. Old versions of SVOX behaved that way but that was changed some time ago. You might want to look into updating SVOX classic.

See if the sample in the TTS settings will play for you. AFAIK there's no setting in Google Maps Nav.
