Help Google Navigation

Yes the voice is awful.
The volume buttons when in navigation should do the volume.
As for the way the directions are spoken not much can be done as far as I know :/

Svox voices are more natural sounding, as for volume you can buy a Bluetooth speaker for the car but that's a bit pricey.

I use Svox UK female voice and its OK. Really like it with talking calandar to.

Hope that's some help :-)

Ahhh had to be done so I can use navigation with voice.
I might write my own porn script and get her to read it back to me... Ohhhhhhhhh

;)

I found a link to their samples from the market, do a search for Svox.
you have to download the free text to speech engine then buy the voices that you want.

The voice is OK however the real factor is the crappy htc desire internal phone speaker.

Svox is worth the small price though, especially as the voices are now placed on sd card rather than phone memory. didn't use to be that way... Ouch....

I'd advise switching back to the Android engine when using Translate though.
Our Victoria doesn't really do French lol ;)

Hmmm, I'll have to take a look at Svox myself, as I've been using my Desire as a sat nav recently after my TomTom finally bit the dust (read concrete floor :o )

Related to this topic - has anyone used their Desire as sat nav in conjunction with a Parrot Mini-Kit Smart ? Been looking into geting one to replace / augment the Desire internal speaker and to use as a H/F kit, but apparently some users are having delayed voice issues.

I use Parrot CK3100. It performs all the voice related communication, including voice dial. However, I can't get the media audio to stream via BT, including SatNav commands. Probably a carkit issue.

I use a Motorola T505 BT speaker. With Google Navigation, I find it misses the first second or so of each instruction. Is that the same problem that users are having with the Parrot kit? If so, it may be a Desire / Nav issue rather than a problem with Parrot.

Anyway, because of this, I've disabled the Media stream for the T505, so that only phone calls, and not Nav instructions, are routed to the device. A bit annoying, and defeats some of the point of having a BT speaker!

Fishyweb, yes that's the exact issue according to the Parrot user forums. Seems to be hit and miss though. Some people have issues, others don't.

Last time I've updated the Parrot carkit software was about 1 year ago...
Perhaps they have a fix now. If yes, then I'll take my notebook in the car and update the software.

Usta, would be interesting to know how u get on :)
No new firmware update was available from Parrot.

However, got this fixed by using BTmono application. It uses the same voice protocol as if you are in a call to stream audio and Navigation instructions to the carkit, and so to the speakers. It works and that is good enough for me. :)
