Google notification lag!

Hi all,

I'm having insane lag getting notifications with Google Plus and Gmail. Often I won't get any notification, but if I refresh either app it'll show what I missed. Facebook, Hotmail, Instagram, texts-all of them I get the notifications instantly.

I'm not signed into either service on another device, and as a test I tried both services on another phone, and I got my notifications right away from both. Same wifi used for both phones tested. Problem happens regardless if on wifi or 4g data. So that leads me to believe there is something either set wrong on my Note 3, or Google Plus and Gmail apps don't play well with the Note 3.

I'm baffled, please any help will be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Probably won't be much help, but just FYI, I have multiple devices that notify when new email from Gmail comes in, so you can be signed in on more than one.

Yes it's annoying at times.

On my note there are two places where Gmail sync is enabled, in Settings under Accounts, and in the Settings of the Gmail app.

I've checked every setting I could think of, both on the phone and within the settings for both apps. There is nothing obvious to me that is wrong, so I'm stumped.
