Help Google now and voice commands

Hi everybody
I'm a fairly new android user and I'm loving the experience
I'll rush to my point here
I can't make the Google now work at all, no matter how hard I try :(
So, I set the language to English (even tho I'm Italian usually the English version of vocal commands works way better) and whenever I try to talk to my device it understand perfectly every word . unfortunately it won't do anything other than searching the whole sentence on Google! "Set all arm to 9 a.m.", "call mum", "open whatsapp" nothing works , it just search them all on Google. I got the Same results using the Italian version.
I updated to 4.2.2 and my Google search app is up to date as well, how do I solve this.? I do not want to start envying on Siri!

Maybe your cards are off.
Bring up Google Now by holding the Home Button than slide up to the White Google circle...click the 3 dots on the bottom right & choose Settings. Are both Google Now & Notifications on..?? If not turn them on, if on hit back to go back to the Weather Card & click on Show Sample Cards...now you should see a list of all the Cards available, click on settings for any Card except Weather to get into settings of all other cards (Weather has it's own settings). Turn on/off any of the Cards you want to use. When your done, hit back & scroll to bottom of Cards & click on Hide Sample Cards.

I hope that will get your working.
 
How much does it drain your battery? I have never used Google Now in fear of it draining the battery.
 
I didn't find it made a huge difference to my battery, even though I had to turn WiFi on all the time to get the location stuff to work.

I've turned WiFi off now as I can't say I've found Now too useful.
