Help Google Now help

Hadly

Newbie
Well, got the new JB update, but I seem to be missing some of the functionality that I've seen in the videos. A couple of things I don't seem to be able to do:

1) There's NO voice feedback. I've tried both English (Canada) and English (US). I don't see any other option to flip it on or off. It also doesn't make a noise to register that it has received my voice. In fact, the entire app doesn't make any sound at all.

2) It doesn't seem to understand some of my command. I wanted to set a timer for 10 minutes. Instead of setting a timer, when I said "set timer for 10 minutes", it did a google search for timers.

Am I missing something?

Make sure in BOTH the Google Now app and in Settings→Language& Input English(US) is selected.
Make sure a TTS default program is selected (use Google TTS for the best experience)
Also, make sure the media volume is up. It's different then the volume you get by just pushing the volume UP key on your phone -that's ringtone volume.
Go to Settings, Sound, Volume and make sure all the sliders are all the way to the right.
While in the TTS settings screen, tap "listen to an example" and press the volume up key until it's at max.
Then try Google Now again.
If it still doesn't work, repost here!

I just doubled checked all of those settings. Still no change. It just seems like some of the functions are missing.

I just asked it to "Launch Angry Birds", and instead it googled the launch of Angry Birds Star Wars.

Like you I updated to JB today and no voice feedback. I read in another post to install Set Locale And Language from the play store. Use this app and select the English United States. Worked for me. I now have voice feedback!
