Google Now interesting stories thread

I was done at work and planned afterwards to go to the gas station and fill my lawnmower gas can. Checked Google Now for the usual weather data and low and behold a Google Now card showed up telling me the average time to get to the exact gas station! Anyone else got a funny or creepy psychic moment from Google Now?

My friends and I were driving around and ended up getting lost. I pulled out my phone and thought I'd try and see what Google Now could do. I spoke "how do I get home?" into Google Now and it launched a map with driving directions. After I picked my jaw up off of the floorboard, I showed my screen to the friend who was driving and said "you're never lost with Google". The directions took us directly to my driveway.

When I was growing up, a mobile phone was a large black box with a handle and antenna poking out of the side.. and the earpiece was attached to that via a coiled cord. How times have changed :)

Haha only four years ago I had a Nokia 5185i from like 1995. You wouldn't know it today but I used to be a real luddite. Even to the extent that I hacked a way for Flash Player 11 to run inside Windows 98 SE

I have not had the desire to learn more about google now. how to use it.. what to do with it.

It's worth checking out, a couple things you can do is have weather, sports scores, public transportation doesn't hurt to give a try

Have to admit, I'm not even sure what Google Now is .. :o (apart from another way for Google to gather lots of data about you, of course :D).

I've always steered clear of things like that, but maybe, if it was actually useful, I could be persuaded to take a leap into the early 21st century ;)

How does it work (is it just another app?)? What do you need to get it up and running? How long before it becomes useful? Does it cost anything?

When I'm standing by the bus stop each morning gnow knows I'm at a bus stop and puts the schedule in my pulldown, what buses are coming, what time they get there, where its headed.

It works flawlessly

That sounds pretty impressive.

One problem I have is that I don't use navigation for my daily drive (kinda know the way by now :)) so I don't see the traffic issues before I hit them. Would it be able to warn me about jams?

Also, still not sure how I start using it ..

Enough said

Haha that's a great story, Google now is perfect for those who need information now, hense the people who need Google now. No pun intended.
I use Google now almost every morning for the weather, I always ask "what's the weather like today?" And love it when she talks back to me.

I don't know if this is a part of Google now, but it is really cool and I show it off to everyboday who sees me watching a movie on my Nexus 7. If I pause the movie, then tap on a person, it will give me so much information about them, I just love it and think it is sooo cool. The little things is why I love Google. The little things that do the coolest things!

Google Now is faster and has a much better voice than Siri. When it got ported to iOS it was a start to my path back to Android. I had almost given up because I hated how Android at least in my experience crashed and lagged but let's face it, iOS got boring really fast and Siri is overrated.

Instantly Google Now not only locked onto my location but in a nice clearly spoken manner told me the weather forecast. When Siri didn't think I was in Cupertino, she often just said 'I do not understand what's the whether in owenwburg do you want to search the web? '

That's Weather and OWENSBORO Siri. I may live in a backwards redneck area but still..
