Help Google Now Launcher

Has anyone been able to get the Google Now Launcher to work? Installed, but when I try to use it I get an error - "Unfortunately, Google Search has stopped."
 
That's one of the first things I tried! But alas I had the same problem as you and gave up after a while. There are a couple kitkat themed launchers in the play store that are alright. I use Holo Launcher.
 
The reason Google now launcher doesn't work on our phone is because the SDK version for our phone is 16 (4.1.X). With a bit of experimenting on my touchpad, the minimum SDK version it runs on is 17, or 4.2.X. This may not be the correct reasoning, and this may not be 100% correct, but that's the result I've come across
 
you installed google experience launcher (kitkat)?? and you could swipe to the left to get google now? how did you install it? mine was showing that "google search has stopped", just like everybody else

Ok, so I've installed the KK Launcher and if I swipe from the left, Google search opens up and works fine. The launcher works pretty fast, however, is there anything it can do better than the stock launcher?

I will go out on a limb and say you downloaded KK Launcher for the Play Store. Not the same thing we are talking about. KK Launcher is just another KK 'themed' launcher. You can get that with Nova, Apex, Holo Launcher, etc.
 
I have come across a work around if anyone is still interested very easy and it's the official 4.4 launcher not a launcher from play store
 
Go here and follow the instructions How to Get Android 4.4 KitKat Launcher For Any Android Smartphone you will have to go uninstall the google play services and search updates. Then install the files from the guide in the order suggested. You will get a force close from search just open up play store and update search and it will fix it. I also converted these to system apps with links2sd might not be required just wanted to tell you my exact process.
 
Installed and have no problems with it what-so-ever! Big fan of the minimalistic design and although some people find it annoying, I actually really enjoy Google Now and love the integration into the launcher. Thanks again!
