My Google Now only gives me updates about the weather, traffic to work, and sports scores. From what I see online, it should be intelligent and giving me updates about upcoming calendar appointments, package tracking info from my gmails, etc. How do I set this up? My calenders are gmail are synced and under settings in Google Now, there's not a lot of options. As it is, it seems pretty useless.

Have you gone into the settings of Google Now? You should be able to set those up in there.
Yes, I have gone into the settings and made sure everything is synced and available to Google Now. I have several upcoming calendar events and several tracking numbers in my g-mail; however, the only two cards I have in Now are the weather and things nearby. From what I was reading about Google Now before I bought this phone I was excepting it to do a lot more.

I'm not seeing an app for Google Now. There are times when I swipe down from the notification bar, I see traffic to work & upcoming calendar appointments, which I added in Google Calendar. Sometimes I see sports scores.
When using my tablet, if I swipe up from the Home button I get the Google Now, but I don't get that using the MG.

Google Now is actually Google Search.
OP, you can always try clearing data and cache for Google Search and see if that fixes things.

I did that and it helped a little. I now get news related to the sports teams I said that I'm interested in but still no calendar events or tracking numbers from my e-mail.
I installed an agenda widget which gives me what I'm looking for. I might just disable Google Now if it doesn't do much else other than sports scores and the current weather.
