Google Photos

Hello,
Recently I started using the Google Photos app, everything seemed to be working fine but every day now I get a warning saying "device storage almost full remove backed up photos to save space" So I click the warning and it takes me to Google Photos then it says "Free up 658 mb then there's a bunch of stuff and it says to click to delete copies. So I click and it completes the task and says you have just freed up 658 mb of space. Problem is and like I said I get the same warning every single day.

Anyone else have this problem? And ideas for fixes? I'm running the latest S4 software

thanks!

It's not a "problem." Google Photos is just deleting some of the photos off of your phone that have been backed up online so that you don't accidentally fill it up all the way. It just means that you have a lot of apps, photos, etc. on your phone. You can see some of the details of where the space is being used through the Settings. I have an S4 as well so the location should be the same.

Settings -> More -> Storage

The only real way to get rid of the message is to remove some things; probably apps.

YES! I get this message Every. Single. Day. My Android phone offers to delete "382 photos & videos from your device that are already backed up", freeing up "1.81 GB". I say yes, and it proudly announces success. Then, the next day, it again offers to delete a similar number of photos taking up a similar amount of space. Often, I have not taken a single picture with my camera in that time. So, where are all those files coming from? Is it in a constant cycle of delete and re-sync?

It sounds to me like you are using one of these ...
Clean Master – optimizer, speed booster. and anti-virus – Cheetah Software Mobile
File Manager – manipulate device and cloud folders and files – Cheetah Software Mobile
File Manager HD – manipulate device and cloud folders and files – Cheetah Software Mobile
QuickPic Gallery – photo gallery – Cheetah Software Mobile)
... if so ... uninstall it.

When I first read your comment, I had no idea what you were talking about. Then, I thought hard and remembered I had a "File Manager" app. I tracked it down, and it is from Cheetah.

I will uninstall the app and see if the irritating behavior goes away. But could you explain your theory of what these Cheetah apps are doing exactly and why they appear to add back files that Google Photos repeatedly offers to delete?

Thanks!
