When I open a game on any of my devices, my name no longer drops down in the little circle in the middle upper of the screen, instead GlidingCapybara63 does, how do I remove from my account, I have changed passwords, at this stage nothing has been tampered with in my account or gmail, but I have never set up credit card payments either, thanks, Brett.

It's just the "gamer tag" Google Play games has given you. I was given PulsatingJellyfish81.
You can change it via the Play Games app installed on your phone.

Yup. Your account wasn't hacked. Odd though, Google asked me what tag I wanted when I opened a game after this update happened. Apparently didn't happen to you.
