Help Google Play Crashes When Trying to Update

DelaWhere

Lurker
Hey everyone,
I've been rather unhappy with my galaxy s3 lately, it just seems like it's one problem after another. Anyway, here's the newest one: my Google play app crashes immediately when I open it. I've cleared the data and logged out, it seems like it only does it when I try to update any of the apps I've downloaded or when it automatically tries to update them. I've removed my Google account, restarted, and removed updates to Google play, yet every time I log into play and try to update ANY app it immediately crashes play. If I leave it be it will automatically try to update these apps (I'm assuming) and send me a list of errors (things like google.play.store failed to download the update). Please help, I'm getting sick of this thing.

Not rooted

It appears one of the people trying to troubleshoot another problem disabled the "downloads" program, so I enabled it and that seems to have fixed the above problem.

Now I have Facebook build 141046 again downloading and wrecking my battery...

The Facebook fix is simple - install Titanium Backup (paid version) and freeze FB.
That way, it will only run when you have it defrosted.... when you're done with it, just freeze it again.

But - if you want it to run in the background all the time and alert you to various FB updates/posts, it's going to eat your battery. That's the app's fault - not the phone.
It's just the nature of the beast. (FB)

FB build thing has been happening to a lot of us since FB decided to try and push the latest build OTA without going through Google Play. There were a couple articles about this last week.

The FB DL should complete if you connect up to wifi.

Hello DelaWhere!
Glad you figured out your PlayStore issue:)
As far as that Facebook thing, I've seen that on other devices here at work.
Go into your "downloads" folder I believe it was and cancel/delete the FB download.
That should rid you of that FB download notification:)

Edit: wow, ninj'd twice!! Nice!! :)
@pappy, I think TB is a root only app :)
