google play disappeared

So, Google changed the name of market to Google play store. Just when I was reading this, I noticed the market icon disappeared . I have a market icon on my home screen. When i wrnt to menu, there was Google play store. Fine. But after a while , I tried opening the Google play from home screen, which I had just copied and it says, the linked program is.no longer installed. I go to settings and applications and Google play is there ? How do i grt it back?

My phone is HTC Inspire- unrooted_ATT

Have you looked in the app draw? I know there was a second update today, so besure that your apps are all up to date and look in the app draw itself.
 
Sorry ,

The play store was there the whole time ..the shortcut link on home screen was not working for some reason. I was too dumb to try check it on settings-applications but not on the menu.

I had the same issue too, the shortcut disappeared after i go the error message. I do not see Google Play in the Application listing, only under manage application. How to get it back?
 
On my HTC Desire S the 'Market' app disappeared and 'Play Shop' app appeared at the same time in the main app list ie Google is not part of the app title. Although as already commented on, it does appear as 'Google Play Store' in 'Manage Applications' (the icon is the same in both). It would help if Google was consistent!!!
 
Icon didn't show up on an Acer Tablet (wifi) after update, so I made my own link. Two days later the "official" icon showed up.
 
ok i too had the market app icon change to google play store then last night i lost everything my phone has no apps i did finally get my contacts back and my market app icon is back but marjet is very different any one know about this
