Google Play Music App

Why does this app remain in RAM when not in use? Android doesn't clear it after awhile like it does when you hit home after using the stock browser.

Pressing the home key doesn't necessarily shut it down. Using back key will typically tell the IS that it's OK to close out the background functionality, but if there's open RAM than there's a chance the OS will keep it open. Also, if it's just sitting in RAM doesn't mean that it's running. Open apps don't use resources until they're running

When its sitting in ram it has zero cpu so that means it isnt running, is this correct? Slightly confused as i'm sure if I check all under applications it says that the service is running, although I think that section is related to RAM as that is what it says along the very bottom of the screen with total and used ram space info.

Try this. Open your player, start listening to music, and press the home button. The music should continue. Now from home screen, if you open up the list of recent apps while your music continues to play, and swipe away the "card " for your music player, the music should stop, because swiping away tells the OS that it's OK to kill it.

Running services/running apps is what's found under the applications section.

Tried this, the music continued until I went into task manager and the music stopped when I killed it from there.

I noticed that there is now no sign of it showing under running after me doing this and I have restarted the phone and its still not showing as an active app, I have yet to see what happens if I turn the phone off completely.

I still dont understand though why the service shows under the running section under application settings when i'm not using the app.

EDIT:
Not showing in active applications in task manager after phone off and on again, I would imagine it will return if I open the app again.

Problem adding image.

Trying again. Well I see the image when in app browser mode but only a broken picture box when viewing on the app.

I dont see the point having an app when the images that users post cant be viewed on it.

Well, I can see your screenshot (using the tapatalk app). It depends on uploading a pic or linking to another pic location, I guess. It's a known problem. If it isn't showing, you could always 'open that post in browser' to see it. Tap that post and then the three dots in the upper right corner, to select that option.

It was version 2.4.4.9 of the android forums that I was using but have uninstalled that now as I was having issues opening threads too.

I linked the image from my phone gallery, but I wonder if the issue for me not seeing my image on the apps post is because I had the app on the SD card (USB STORAGE) instead of the device.

Thanks but I would prefer using the Android Forums app as opposed to tapatalk. I have started a discussion about the image issue on the feedback section.

Just to say I have installed once again the Android Forums application to my phone as I prefer using instead of the browser version.

Back to your original question OP. Is Play Music set to sync in any way? It might need to run if it's watching for new music
