Google Play Music App

Also, that post indicates to me that you're getting the distinction between open versus running. The problem for a lot of people (and I was in this crowd when I first got to Android) is that we use Windows for our frame of reference. Anything open in Windows IS running, there's no distinction between the two. Android (thankfully) isn't based on Windows, it's based on Linux where there IS a difference between the two. It can be confusing to wrap your head around it at first, but once you understand it, things make MUCH more sense when you're "looking under the hood" in your settings.

This is how it looks since i've enabled it, let me know what you can gather from these images.

It looks like it's still running. If you plan on sticking with Play Music, I wouldn't worry about it. If you're going to switch over to something else, then I'd disable it and be done.

Is it normal that its still running and do you think its like this because there isn't a stop button on the player only a pause?

With the other default player at least there is a stop and an end when you hit on menu which removes it.

Wonder how it can still be running when it has zero CPU in task manager?

Here is a better pic as I took it in landscape which doesn't have the END obliterating the CPU %

I watched this live in task manager and the CPU % occasionally changes to 0.17% but mainly stays as 0.00%.

It would appear i'm not the only one, check out this link.

I've disabled it now for good until they address why it has no exit or stop button on the player only has a pause which is why it is constantly running in my opinion.

I don't think they will. As I mentioned before, I'm now convinced that it runs like that, by design. It behaves identically on my device.

Google Play Music. It doesn't show up as having used any battery unless I've been using it, do I don't sweat the fact that it's running in the background

I was using it last night for a short while and as you can see it shows 2%.

Does this refresh to not showing up here if the phone is restarted or switched off? need to try it.

As I thought, whether its restarted or switched off then turned on the battery percentage stats remain.

Pretty much. Like I said, when I'm not using it for a while, it won't show up there, so I don't worry about it
